Surah Luqman Ayat 29-30 Translation Tafseer

Para 21 - اُتْلُ مَاۤ اُوْحِیَ

سورة لقمن

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

31.29-30

اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ یُوْلِجُ الَّیْلَ فِی النَّهَارِ وَ یُوْلِجُ النَّهَارَ فِی الَّیْلِ وَ سَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَ الْقَمَرَ٘-كُلٌّ یَّجْرِیْۤ اِلٰۤى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَّ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِیْرٌ(29) ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَ اَنَّ مَا یَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهِ الْبَاطِلُۙ-وَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْعَلِیُّ الْكَبِیْرُ۠ (30)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

˹O listener!˺ Did you not see that Allah merges the night into the day and merges the day into the night, and He set the sun and the moon in motion; each orbits for a specified term, [1] and that Allah is aware of your deeds? This is because Allah is the Truth while what they worship other than Him is false, [1] and because Allah is the Most-High, the Most-Great.

Commentary

“Specified term” refers to the Day of Judgement; the sun and moon continue orbiting until their appointed time just as the sun orbits until the end of the year and the moon orbits until the end of the month.

In the Arabic language, ‘مَا’ is used for things which do not have an intellect. So the meaning of the verse is that the stones, trees, and inanimate objects that people worship are objects of falsehood. Therefore, even though some disbelievers worship the Noble Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام which is of course falsehood, those righteous individuals cannot be described with that term, as they are absolutely truthful.
